Local Business Spotlight
From the Royal Shakespeare Company to the Heart of York
Businesswoman Emma Romans, owner of Betty Brown Wigs, may be a new face in town, but her glittering cast of former clients would be familiar to millions.
Before opening her Westminster Arcade store, Emma honed her skills in the high-stakes world of show business. From styling the hair of a galaxy of TV stars to fixing the wigs of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Emma’s expertise has been in constant demand for the UK’s most audience-grabbing dramas.
"Styling the hair of players in an RSC performance with Prince Charles and Camilla in attendance was among my proudest moments. It taught me that wearing wigs and hairpieces can inspire confidence and create a powerful body image." — Emma Romans
Emma’s transition from the stage to the salon was driven by a deep empathy for those facing medical hair loss. "The effect of hair loss on someone battling cancer or alopecia can be devastating," Emma explains. This passion led her to join forces with campaigning hair-stylist Trevor Sorbie and the My New Hair initiative to raise awareness and standards across the industry.
Introducing the Feather Premier Collection
While Betty Brown Wigs supplies pieces from a wide variety of world-class manufacturers, Emma is particularly excited to introduce the Feather Premier Collection—a range designed for ultimate comfort and discretion.
Why Choose the Feather Collection?
- Super Fine Lace Fronts: For a completely undetectable hairline.
- Hand-Made Mesh: Provides a lighter, softer feel against the scalp.
- Undetectable Comfort: Designed so that you’ll forget you’re even wearing a wig.
“Whatever type or style is required, we will find the most suitable for every customer,” says Emma. Since 2009, Betty Brown’s has grown into the region’s premier one-stop-shop for expert advice and compassionate care.
